Congratulations Lucy Tuttiett!

Hiya lovely’s Sage here!
Arguably the most exciting event for young women around the world, it’s our own Lucy Tuttiett who was the epitome of beauty and grace at the Australian Miss Universe final over the weekend. The Facebook updates were a real highlight for the CocoBongo team, and much of the state of Queensland I’m guessing, with Michelle McCracken down in the pageant trenches conveying each critical moment. Everyone was astounded by the wealth of talent uncovered, so we just couldn’t wait to see the gorgeous pics that the lovely Emma Read from Petticoat Lane captured through-out the evening.
Sitting down with Michelle she explained in detail what an amazing experience it was. With Lucy’s whole family there in support (Team Lucy on table10) thoroughly enjoyed meeting and chatting to all the other Miss Universe supporters.
Entering the Hotel Sofitels red carpet, photographers had staked out prime position lining up wall to wall for that million dollar shot. Beautiful women dotted through-out the whole atrium with each gent dressed in stylish suits.... it was an exciting scene.
Then on cue, guests were greeted with delicate champagne, where they were eventually ushered through to the Grand Ballroom. They were seated and ready when the stage lit up and the entertainment began. Michelle mentioned “The food, along with its presentation and service was impeccable”
A stunning array of heavenly bodies with a total of 33 taking to the stage began with a choreographed routine created by Australian director, producer Jason Coleman. Dressed in white cocktail dresses each contestant beat out the catwalk to the live music.
So many beautiful girls from all over Australia, this was going to be a tough decision for the chosen judges who were fashion designer Wayne Cooper, actor Vince Colosimo, Television presenter Naomi Robson and past model Analise Braakensiek just to name a few.

Looking back on all our previous ‘Lucy’ articles it’s hard to believe that it all began with Michelle McCracken’s Bunnings Warehouse find! She noticed her potential for the catwalk and talked her into the Miss Model Australia where she won best body. Sitting at the Miss Universe event along-side many other excited and very nervous parents and friends it was a far cry from the Consortium night clubs competition, it was wonderful to see Lucy come this far.
Michelle says “our table had a great time we ate and drank, clapped and cheered on the contestants.
While the 8 judges determined the winners, the crowd enjoyed a very indulgent three course meal and a few of Melbourne’s famous wines to taste.
Next the swim suit category with the label Kooey adorning each stunning girl. This was the chance to show off some pretty amazing well sculpted figures and then of course came the finale. Gorgeous eveningwear gowns dazzled the runway finishing  the event off with a bang!
Michelle did mention that “One thing I did notice, the lighting did wonders to any contestant wearing a gold sparkly dress. It really did turn them into goddesses”
Some of the tough competition

Coming down to the final 12, there was total suspense as the 9th, 10th and 11th were called out, with Lucy still standing amongst the remaining contestants. It was gripping stuff! Then her name was finally called. everyone erupted with high fives it was all so overwhelming.
With Lucy’s striking presence, glamazon appearance and natural persona of course she was going to be in the final 12 ....table 10 then collapsed in reprieve.
Each contestant was asked to step forward and select a question from a glass bowl. With most girls stammering and stuttering through their pageant questions, Lucy on the other hand (who has years of experience through high level debating) dominated the test, literally slicing through her question with uncanny accuracy, control and passion. From all accounts it was the most impressive on the night and received an overwhelming response from the crowd.
The support crews nerves where once again tested, Michelle saying “after the question I had no doubt that Lucy was going to make the final 5 and when she did it was really emotional, we were all ecstatic. I think Lucy’s Mum had to down a wine just to calm the nerves ha ha”
Lucy was announced as 3rd runner up and the Miss Universe 2012 crown going to Perth hairdresser and dancer Renae Ayris with 2nd place going to Victorian Mary Vitinaros (who was Lucy’s favourite)
From the conversation I had with Michelle it was definitely a very memorable night.
Lucy’s last word:
“It was an absolutely amazing experience. Gaining a lot of confidence and I had the chance to meet so many nice girls I had a great week!”
'Some Gossip' from the night: Wayne Cooper surprised on lookers with a very unnecessary and nasty remark to a contestant that was dressed in white cocktail number ready for the Miss Universe after party. She walked over to introduce her-self and praised his fashion designs, claiming “I have one of your dresses it’s my favourite”. He looked her up and down and said “you’re wearing a napkin luv” rolling his eyes and walking away laughing loudly proclaiming a bemused distaste of her compliment.
People from the event were horrified by his actions and it was very disappointing one of the judges treating the fan in such a way.
Whatever happened to manners and common courteously? Just saying!!
Well, I hope Lucy has another turn next year so we can follow her again. It was a fantastic story to tell and wonderful photos to preen overJ
We wish Australia’s Miss Universe winner Renae Ayris well when she heads over to the USA for the world finals in December. Looking at the other finalists it looks like Miss Canada is the one to beat!!
Till next to time guys!
