Friday the 13th unlucky for some

Hello to my lovely CocoBongo followers, it’s Sage. Nice to see you all back after the festive break ready for a fabulous new year. Hmmm looking at the calendar and Friday is the 13th! They say it’s the day best spent indoors, in a padded room and is considered to be one of the most unluckiest days of the year?
Well I haven’t incurred the wrath of this date, have you? I have heard a few strange things over the years but nothing concrete to say “THIS IS the unluckiest day of the year”.

Looking into this 13th day of the month statsicly nothing happens more on this day than on any other. So why is this day marked with so much conspiracy? There’s a couple of theories to why Friday the 13th is said to be so unlucky, there’s a modern amalgamation of two older superstitions with thirteen an unlucky number and Friday an unlucky day. Put them together and it’s just super unlucky. I don’t know about you but Friday is the best day of the week for me!
Interestingly, it also has to do with numerology, with the number twelve known as completeness.
Twelve months of the year
Twelve hour of the clock
Twelve tribes of Israel
Twelve Apostles of Jesus
Twelve gods of Olympus etc
So, unfortunately thirteen gets the bum steer being the irregular one, transgressing this completeness.
The Last Super or a Norse myth says if you happen to have thirteen people seated at a table this will result to one unlucky diner meeting some dreary death....playing out, I presume like a corny horror movie.
Interesting fact:  The Phobia Institute of Asheville and Stress Management Centre estimate 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by it so much, that it ceases their normal routines, like flying on this day or even sleeping on the 13th floor of a building. In many cases Motels don’t bother building a 13th floor for this very reason.
I don’t mind it either way; it’s a bit of fun. Speaking of fun- party people, the super club Consortium will be holding the Black Friday Party with DJ-241 playing with all the extra trimmings, FREE BBQ, great Friday specials and they are encouraging everyone to get into the spirit of things by dressing in black....love it!

  1. The culture against is all the more reason to be the culture for. Make Fri the 13th memorable for all sorts of rockstar fun reasons. Oh - and my 2 best friends were married on Fri the 13th 8 years ago next months, are still happily married, and going strong!

  2. I'm not going let the number '13' ruin my Friday! Watermark madness and then DJ 241 at The Consortium... The only thing that will be bad is the headache on Saturday 14th! That should be the date we all need to be worried about!
