Who's off their Heads Now?

Yep Bazel here and this shit just got real.

Townsville now, willingly leads the epee centre of Qld to introduce a positive new approach on the sales and consumption of alcohol.

Gone are the days were we once staggered into a bar to 'meet the boys'. You would throw a couple of bucks down and the bar tender would 'slide over a nice cold one', you would scull it down and hail for the next.....the guy down the end of the bar sniggers and remarks at a comment he over hears, and you couldn’t help but pier over at the girl who hung off his arm and give her a wink....and before you knew it....it was on, a good ol biffo, all in!! The next day you would wake up and feel like crap, but the more you had drunk and the shenanigan’s from the night before, made for a great story at the bar the following week and shit.... that's what a good night was.
Old School

I have a saying...'There's no past you can bring back by longing for it'....and so be it.
Time changes and wheather an individual thinks it is fortunate or unfortunate we all learn to just move with it.

Waiting to 'maybe' get in. 'Studio 54' The most famous nightclub of all time (1977-1981) It was quoted the club earned 7 million in it's first year and only Mafia made more money. Shortly thereafter it was raided. The owners were eventually prosecuted for tax evasion, it was the first time anyone was ever prosecuted for a one year tax evasion and they were sentenced to 13 months imprisonment. The club closed with a final party on Feb 4th 1980. The owners sold the club in 1981.
OPINIONS!!!! Well there like ass holes, everyone has one.....and what we once, may have thought an insignificant issue is magnified along the way these days. With the help of media, social media and so on before we know it, that insignificant issue, relics a whole bureaucratic debate.

Hence the reason for the 'Townsville late night traders pulling together to install, what will now be known as the 'Townsville Liquor Accord'.

With the focus of media and bureaucratic attention brought upon what us 'party seekers' would call...'just a good night out'.
It is not the case for hard working venue's that are subject to constant criticism, rules and regulations.
A patron enters a venue, because he or she 'wants to', they want to go out and let their hair down. They want to.....'With tongue and cheek', “get pissed", catch up with friends and whatever happens, happens!

Roid Boy
The people 'injured, or mis treated, out of the thousands and thousands that revel in our clubs weekly, are misfortunate, they may have been susceptible to unruly behaviour and I totally condemn the extra-ordinary sensibilities of the mere minority who inflict such circumstances. Although behaviour of those minute few, cast a cloud of speculation on social behaviour and bureaucrats need someone to blame.

Hence the propaganda behind 'alcohol fueled violence and the unnecessary focus on the 'venues' that are here to provide entertainment, security and the best service they can to its 'willing' customers.

Evolving is a cross section of over regulated rules, regulations and taxes on venues, thus governments  incapability’s on justifying an 'individual’s' behaviour associated with alcohol, drugs, a mental disorder, how tough they are or just plain stupid!

Recently an incident occurred in Kings Cross where a blatant act of violence was inflicted upon a young man, who I say...'willingly' intended on a night out with friends. As he walked the street to meet his mates, he was 'king hit', terribly, his life was taken, this happened before midnight and not in a venue. The offender had jumped out to inflict harm also on previous pedestrians.

Was he mad? Was it alcohol, drugs, or was he having a bad day? This is an individual’s behaviour. A certain individual may have an inappropriate behaviour because they cannot control what society has created, surely this this is not a venues concern.
The media’s focus again was put on alcohol and the venues, within the Kings Cross late night precinct, which in hand focused on all late night venues selling alcohol.
Who's to say the offender wasn't simply unstable, drug affected or pre-loaded elsewhere before his actions?

The accord is pulling together to voice their concerns. Speaking with the minority of the accord, they say the government never seem to take into account pre loading. Bottle shops can advertise, sell cheap liquor and the rules are bent.

Personally and realistically I don't think we are ever going to stop people having a few drinks at home before heading out.....although this entails more rules, in this case what’s good for the goose is good for the gander and maybe bottle shops should to, follow suit.
There are so many different drugs these days which affect a person’s social behaviour.
Major concerns are the ever popular use of steroids now, which assist in obtaining the fantasised look of perfection. Which in turn builds testosterone, a lot of these people love the party scene, their liver and heart bursting at the seams, not only with steroid use, but alcohol and social drugs, when provoked, can they control there temper?
......'hey roid, look out for the rage'.

Whose fault is this?
Not the venue owners!

Or then there's the benders of the sleep deprived ice addicts!
To even want to touch this drug, you have automatically possessed a downhill spiral upon yourself.

I suppose the venue owners are accountable for them to?

Then there are the regularly used drugs of choice within the party scene and parents, sorry to break it to you.....but you are totally naive to think your teenage kids and young adults are 'Never' going to be exposed or be introduced to other revellers  associated with one or all of these drugs!
You need to get your head out of your ars and accept reality.
There's ecstasy which are called 'e's' or 'pingers', then there's caps, cocaine and so on.
I am told when taken in moderate, small amounts can counteract the effects of alcohol and put people in a happy and loving mood. Such is known, the 'circle of love'.
Ecstasy or Pinger
Although.... it is not accepted, is also an illegal offence and can sometimes lead an individual with an addictive personality to a pathway of harder drugs.

Also known as the party drug.
Society has made alcohol a legal, socially accepted drug, which has been around since before Noah played half back for Jerusalem. The highest profile people, to the derelict bum on the street, love a drink and the majority of times, consequences are socially accepted.

So I ask you again, how is a business that provides a service for the 'willing' majority, accountable for an individual and what they choose to do.
Need I say the media also broadcasts shows that earn huge ratings, like Underbelly and the MMA fighting, which project an image of......wow that's cool!

Wake up bureaucrats and stop pointing the finger at people who are trying to do the right thing within their venues and earn a buck just like you.

The venues have that many restrictions on them now, they foresee a future of the 'Fun Police' wrecking it for the majority and business's will have to eventually close......I guess we could always have out of control house and street parties, where there is no security and smash as much alcohol and drugs into us, music as loud as we can, to piss all the neighbours off and the police and ambo's would get called out to places everywhere to control these unsupervised environments........ Maybe that will help!
A big night guys?

To show Acknowledgement to the never ending innuendo that is blamed on late night traders, Townsville venue owners have pulled together to create a force and voice of their own.
They have introduced their own rules, which relate to responsible service of alcohol, no shots after 2am, no multiple free drink cards, no 2 for 1's and no excessively cheap spirits. It also helps counteract the cut throat and ridiculous competition, trying to compete for your patrons by offering alcohol, basically for non-profit revenue, just to 'hopefully' be able to hold some of those customers, in hope they eventually stay. Before they realise it’s time to move on to the place next door who are doing $2 drinks.

So when I said previous, we need to move on and not long for the past, I guess this is the time.

I have to agree and support the venue owners for taking their stance and setting a minimum price of $5 for a spirit. Not only does this serve a purpose of assisting in responsible service of alcohol it also assists with the ever increasing costs to run a venue. It also decreases the animosity of them undercutting each other to the point of eventually having to close their doors for good.
So I guess times have changed and hopefully for the better.
My only qualm is the government need to stop pointing the finger and make the small minority of individuals causing trouble more accountable for their own actions.
Apparently the latest police statistics and reports for Townsville's Flinders St show very little assaults and offences. The two main ones were for public urination and abusive language.
Well there's no where else to pee.
In which the council really need to get off their hands. Public toilets are a necessity and of high importance. If the government insist on a 3am lockout and people cannot get into a venue to use the bathroom, then council need to turn to the government for assistance with funding. After all they made the rules.
Apparently it was also brought up by the traders and requested for the police to provide reports on major assaults within the venues. Why would venues ask this I here you say ......because they know themselves incidents are few and far between.
Venues don’t force a patrons hand, they do it themselves.
Its ashame the current world is always looking for someone else to blame other than themselves.
We have all gone mad with Rules and Regulations.
Don't forget this weekend (Friday and Saturday) is your last chance to win the Ford Fiesta at Consortium, someones key will open that car door this weekend, do you think they are going to be a bit excited, no doubt they will be in for a huge one! Also the 2nd last home game of the year Cowboys V's Warriors, the same night. Its gonna be HUGE!!! Until next time...

Mystery Launch Party Unveiled in Time for the Race Day Bonanza !!!

Hi sexy Sage and Bazel here.....'Well things just never seem to slow down, do they?'
The calendar days just keep flicking over. Can you believe it's the end of July already??
"I guess before we know it, we will have to start thinking about organising a kick arse Festive Christmas Party very soon.

......But hang on, rewind....We need to fill you in on the past few weeks that involves our crazy lives here at CocoBongo!

We have been told Ex Channel 7 news reporter Melissa Mallet, has jumped on board to be the new Public Relations Manager for the McCrackens and the Watermark.  Melissa was dismissed from Channel 7 for something she felt very strongly about.  She asked if she could begin her scheduled week's leave a day early to attend the announcement of the Australian Mens Olympic Basketball team in Melbourne.
Her boyfriend PC, Peter Crawford, was named in the team that day - and is representing Australia in London as we speak. Go Aussies!!! 'No' was Channel 7's answer ...but after days of thinking about it - Mel decided her place was in Melbourne and went without proper approval - and we hear she even worked remotely and did her duties from down there!! But the 7 Queensland chief in Maroochydore blew up… BUT Mel has since moved on to embrace new experiences, new challenges and see where her ambitious attitude will take her next.
So...'Wooohoo Team Melissa', best of luck!

.....There is one company that comes to mind at the moment, who will not be seeing any pressure from the global financial crisis anytime soon.  Red Bull has recently launched it's three new flavours. Cranberry, Blueberry and Lime.
Australia's 'secretive' release date was mid July.  Venues around Australia were selectively chosen by Red Bull to have exclusivity rights to sell and discreetly promote the three new flavours for a six week  period, 'the Red Bull way.'  For those of you who don't know, Red Bull follow strict promotional
policies.  You cannot use their logos, you cannot promote it as a Red Bull launch party.  You can not advertise it on air, tv....nothing!!! Its pretty much put it in your fridge and sell it.
We are pleased to say Consortium, Townsville's No1 club, was honorably one of the few and the ONLY venue or retail outlet in Townsville to launch their product.  Using a clever marketing strategy they held a 'Mystery Launch Party' they dressed their promo girls up with wings which represents their slogan, 'Red Bull gives you wings and coloured wigs, which resembled the three new flavours and their colour coded cans. We trained up our staff
and to our amazement.... and Red Bulls, we are very proud to say, The Consortium with the help of our wonderful Townsville patrons have so far smashed the record on its new release!  Well done everyone and if you haven't yet tried it, it's amazing!  So head down to the Consortium.

Also don't forget the Funky Ford Fiesta promotion is well into the final count down, with 8 lucky key holders now.
"You know if I had a chance to jag myself one of those keys, I would be ecstatically beside myself and the suspense would be killing me. I'm looking forward to the 11th of August just to capture the look on the winners face and the sorrow of......
 'I nearly had a new car', loser’s.  OMG that’s torture. "

Race day is upon us and the annual Townsville Cup hype this year is phenomenal. Fillies and Fo's are ready and raring and I'm not talking about the horses. Everyone I have spoken to is heading to the track. Wether your in a sponsored marquee or kicking stones in the GA, it's one day that everyone is out to enjoy.

"There is one thing I’ve just got to tell you." I went to Melbourne recently on a trip to seek my own captivating race attire and was amazed when I came out of a dressing room. I was very impressed with my chosen racing threads, as I twirled in front of the mirror, people in the shop stopped to admire, asking is that for Melbourne Cup? I said no, I am from Townsville and it's for our local race day!.....

‘Oh really?’ was one ladies comment and another said, ‘do they wear dresses like that up there?’
I had to bite my bad sarcastic tongue and be as polite as possible, well maybe just a little sarcasm thrown in...... I said, "yes, I’m even wearing gloves and heels with it. The ladies were bemused and replied, "wow I didn't think race meets in Townsville would dress like that".

I went on to tell her we have a fashions on the fields and amazing designers of race wear and milliners in our city that even out dress my standard of race wear I had chosen and have won many awards for their sense of creativity and design. It led to a whole Townsville learning experience for them. I'm pretty sure by the time I had finished with them, Townsville is now on their to do list. I even told them about Magnetic Island and it's superb beauty. Which also makes me think the Magnetic Island swim is on this weekend as well.

Also in town this weekend is the 'Integrated Combat Championship', featuring
Tabone Vs Indich.. It's being held at RSL Stadium… explosive mixed martial arts action! I was told 1,700 tickets were sold and that was as of two weeks ago. Consortium Townsville is a proud sponsor of this challenging sport and once again is the 'Official After party Venue' this Saturday night.  So there will be plenty of fit sporting bodies out to mix, mingle and enjoy themselves amongst the well-dressed fashionisters from the cup!

Here's to an action packed weekend in this awesome city of ours..

Until next time...a big cheers from the best bloggers ever, Sage and Bazel

V8 Madness Week!!!

Hiya sexy sage here,

It's been a while my gorgeous CocoBongo peeps!

My fellow mate Bazel has left his den to embark on a new escapade and things have been uncontrollably hectic around here, especially leading up to the roar of the Townsville 400 V8 supercars.

BUT.... I have managed to gain enough energy to crawl to the computer to fill you all in.
Lucky I'm not an 'on air reporter', because my voice is hoarse and I temporarily sound like a man from screaming over the top of crowds, music and the deafening excitement of the past 5 day bender this crazy Townsville City entailed.

5 days, I hear u question? ....Well yes!

It all started Wednesday night, the Watermark showcased the, 'sit on the edge of your seat', State of Origin decider on their big screen. QLD scraping in with a crunching one point win to enable yet another notch to their long running victory.
Watermark State of Origin spectators were slapped with excitement when the unannounced arrivals of V8 Supercar drivers turned up to also watch the game. The likes of James Courtney, Garth Tander and Mark Skaife, cheered on and enjoyed the game, blending into the Watermark atmosphere chatting to the McCracken crew at the bar and other fellow V8 fraternity. Pretty much these boys were relaxing before the start of the V8 madness the next four days would bring. ......So that was the start of my disintegrating vocal cords.'

If you are a local, you probably couldn't help but notice the hype of activity that surrounded the streets, they were abuzz with V8 fever. Sponsored signage supported many a venue which helped add that extra impact and restaurants, accommodation and shops overflowed.  How anybody would not want to support the Supercars and embrace the revenue and thrill it brings to Townsville over the few days is beyond me.
Rick & Todd Kelly signing on behalf of Jack Daniels at The Watermark

Thursday night was the infamous Watermark, 'yearly', Jack Daniel's meet and greet and autographed signings by the legendary Kelly Brothers, which seen the boys stay on to enjoy a well-deserved dinner in the beautiful Watermark Restaurant, where apparently I was informed the majority of 'who's who' dined over the hectic few days.  .....Of course they did, that's nothing unusual, with the restaurants to die for food and mesmerising view and atmosphere, especially if you're from down South, you could really appreciate the weather and the al fresco dining in comparison.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday out at the track was entertaining. If you happened to visit the pumping Consortium Marquee, you would have noticed the Consortium dancers dressed in there V8 get-ups.
They did a fantastic job of cooing guests on their podiums and dancing to DJ Slims base stomping tunes that could be heard for miles, but did anyone happen to see the funniest 2 guys get up and have a dance off to LMFAO "Sexy and I know it"? I did! and they definitely pulled a crowd.

Track goers reached for their cameras in hysterics. The dance off ended with both of them sporting nothing but there undies. I must say, you couldn't have paid for that entertainment, it was gold!

Although the excitement of the main race was embraced by all when the two Vodafone cars driven by Jamie Whincup and followed by Craig Lowndes crossed the finishing line one a breast to greet the fall of the checkered flag.

This year at the track I really noticed the set up and I must say if you think it's only a time for the big kids, you are sadly mistaken. Every child I spoke to was having a blast, they were definitely well catered for.

I have even come to the conclusion that V8 weekend would be more enticing by making it a Townsville long weekend.

Winner of the first key - Ryan Hamilton
Do I hear your cheers of appreciation?

I tell you, for me.......
I do declare...... after heading out to the track day after day, then heading out to Townsville's No1 club, 'Consortium' Saturday night to try and grab myself the first key to win the funky ford fiesta, trying to cope with all the excitement and suspense the night brought.....and then having to back it all up again on the Sunday night to partake in the antics and fun of the 100 Proof Official After Party, that was more fun than I recall!!

Schick Girls were a hit at the V8's as well as Consortium

I, along with the majority, need a holiday to recover on the Monday and if anybody has found my voice, can you please hand it in to the lost and found! :)

All my love to a fantastic weekend and my new found friends.
I love V8's!!!!
See you all there next year!!!!
Lots of Love, Sage XoXo

P.S!!! Don't forget to party with us this Friday and Saturday night for another two opportunities at getting your hands on a key for a chance to win the Funky Ford Fiesta! Your odds of winning this car are too good to be true. This car WILL drive out Consortium doors with its new owner behind the wheel, this is NOT a gimmick!
